Sylhet Women’s Medical College

Established in 2005, Sylhet Women’s Medical College (SWMC) is a private institution dedicated to providing medical education exclusively for female candidates. Situated at the junction of Noya Sarak Point and Chowhatta Point, the campus occupies 2.9 acres of prime land in central Sylhet. The infrastructure comprises medical and academic blocks, with the college and hospital spread across three buildings, one of which houses a 650-bed facility dedicated to teaching purposes. The institution offers a five-year MBBS program, followed by a one-year internship upon graduation.

The MBBS degree conferred by Sylhet Women’s Medical College is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council, with additional recognition from the MCI (erstwhile NMC) and the World Health Organization. The annual intake for the MBBS program is 100 seats, with approximately 50% of applicants coming from India, Nepal, and other neighboring South Asian countries. Hostel facilities are available for both local and international students. Clinical departments include neurology, psychiatry, dermatology, cardiology, and internal medicine, among others. The curriculum aligns with the standards set by the University of Dhaka and the BMDC.
